Presentation Skills

Presentations. Whenever people here that word they have an emotional response. Some people get excited and others (most) get nervous. Tracy Morgan recently said something about this, and it was perfect, “People who are nervous can’t wait for it to end. But people who are excited can’t wait for it to begin.” In this class I will focus on two main topics: You and Them. With “You” we will look at how to identify and improve your presentation style - how do you use your body, your face and your hands.

We will talk about charisma and if you have it - and if you don’t how you get it. And I will give you some tricks and tips on how to use the Power of The Pause and how to tap into your vulnerability and use it to connect with an audience with integrity and authenticity. With “Them” we will discuss how you identify different personality types that will be in your audiences and how to both respect their needs and give them not what they want, but what they need. I will also give you ideas on how to maintain eye contact, what to do when your equipment fails and the Top 10 Things you must do before you present. This course is designed to give you exercises that you can do on your own to strengthen your presentation muscle and maintain a great attitude when it comes to presenting.

It is easy to participate in your online course. After you register, you will be given a web address to go to get into your online classroom.  You will have a password and use your email address and password to gain access.

Once inside the online classroom, here’s what you can expect.

CalendarParticipate when you want

You can participate any time of day or evening. The online classroom is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are no live real-time requirements or meetings. You decide when you participate.
For the best learning, participants should log into the course on 2-3 different days of the week.

ChecklistWhat you will do

For each Unit, you will:

  • Access the online readings
  • Listen to the audio presentation for the Unit and view the slides
  • Take a self-quiz to see how much you have learned
  • Engage in written online discussion with your instructor and other participants

For best learning, you should make one or more comments at 2-3 different times each day.

The content (readings, audio lectures, slides) and self quizzes are accessible for the entire course, so you can work ahead, or go back and review again, at your convenience.

DiscussionDiscussion

The Discussion for each Unit lasts one week. All comments are made in writing and can be made at any time of the day or night.

Your instructor will log into the Discussion area at least once a day and answer questions, make comments, and respond to comments by you and the other participants.

We encourage you to make 2-3 comments each day to maximize your learning and enjoyment of the course.

About Your Instructors


Bridget Brady is a speaker, trainer, author and entrepreneur.  She has trained thousands of people to improve their voice, presentations, sales and over-all business success.  Bridget also facilitates corporate training, and helps high level executives speak and present more effectively.  Bridget has been a popular guest speaker on various internet/radio shows and live events, and most recently shared the stage with legendary speaker, Les Brown.

As Managing Director of Figure18, Michael Weiss is a leader in the web marketing and development industry. He is a veteran speaker, consultant, client advocate, and sales executive. For over 14 years, he was CEO of imagistic, an award-winning Web agency in southern California.  

Weiss has signed many world-renowned clients for imagistic, including ACLU, Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, GE Private Asset Management, Estee Lauder, Technicolor, Walden Media, and Hollywood.com.

With his more than 20 years in the industry, he offers extensive experience conducting and leading sessions for such prestigious organizations as the Non Profit Technology Network, FS/TEC, Boston University, the Center for Nonprofit Management, Network For Good, and Pepperdine University.

Fred Bayley has extensive service working on non-profit boards from creation to re-organization. He was the founding chair of a group that helps business through technology. He has helped rejuvenate a number of non-profits through consulting and being on the board. All of his work with non-profits was to help find ways not only for them to become more self-sustaining but to also fulfill their mission and complete their vision.  Fred is a past president of the local chamber of commerce, Habitat work crew member, volunteer middle school wrestling coach and one-fourth of a handbell quartet.
